Intimate Micro Wedding | Frances & Greg

So 2020… coronavirus… pandemic… it’s all been a bit of a mess/blur/generally awful year (and that’s being polite). In fact, from a wedding photography point of view, the year has pretty much a right off. Apart from a wedding that took place in February pre-lockdown, there hasn’t been too much to be positive about with postponements being the norm. Rather than being known for big epic weddings, 2020 will be known for (amongst other things) – the intimate micro wedding!

INTIMATE MICRO WEDDING IN WALES

With everything that 2020 had thrown at many of my couples, a few, through all the adversity didn’t let the pandemic hold them back. They weren’t to be deterred and held some amazing intimate micro weddings.

One such couple was Frances & Greg. Although they knew the day they had originally planned wouldn’t take place they were determined to become husband and wife. Indeed, it’s testament to the hard work they both put in, together with their love for each other that saw them celebrate with a handful of their closest family and friends at their local church and back at the family home.

Here’s just a few from their intimate micro wedding.  I cannot wait for the party next year!!

MARRY NOW, PARTY LATER? – WHY MICRO WEDDINGS CAN BE A GOOD THING.

Have you thought about having your own micro wedding? Perhaps you too were due to get married and celebrate in 2020 but have had to postpone?  We can’t deny that the coronavirus pandemic has had a major impact on weddings, but having photographed a few micro weddings this year I can honestly say that they have some major benefits.

Being much smaller in size, they are without a doubt more of an intimate occasion. They seem somehow more romantic whilst allowing you to share your day with just those family and friends that mean the most to you. Being limited with the number of guests you can invite, those who you would normally feel you ‘have’ to invite don’t make the list!

Another major positive of this is cost. We all know that weddings are not cheap to plan. One way to look at a micro wedding is that it will save you money. Less invites sent, less guests to feed at the wedding breakfast, less wedding décor, less bottles of Champagne, it all adds up which in turn means your wedding costs less.  More money for a honeymoon anyone? (when we can travel again of course).

Micro weddings are also much more relaxed with no strict wedding timetable to follow.  Relaxed is exactly how a wedding should be in my eyes.  They also give you much more time to spend with your other half as you go from fiancée to husband/wife.
